La construcción de la terminal intermodal en la Región y su conexión ferroviaria será posible gracias al Mecanismo Conectar Europa

En el XIX Foro del Corredor Mediterráneo en Bruselas, el consejero de Fomento destaca el proyecto de la ciudad agroalimentaria y del transporte, enmarcado en las ZAL de Murcia y de Cartagena

El consejero de Fomento e Infraestructuras, José Manuel Pancorbo, participó hoy en el XIX Foro del Corredor Mediterráneo celebrado en la sede de la Comisión Europea en Bruselas, donde intervino con una ponencia centrada en la red transeuropea del transporte y el uso de los fondos recibidos a través del Mecanismo Conectar Europa y destacó que la construcción de la terminal intermodal en la Región de Murcia y su conexión ferroviaria será posible gracias al Mecanismo Conectar Europa.

Pancorbo mantuvo un encuentro previo con la coordinadora del Corredor Mediterráneo, Iveta Radicova, a quien expresó la importancia de estas infraestructuras para la Región de Murcia e invitó a visitarla.

En concreto, el consejero destacó proyectos como la ZAL de Murcia, la terminal intermodal, el parking seguro de camiones, la conexión ferroviaria y la ZAL de Cartagena y especificó cómo influirán positivamente en el futuro de la Región de Murcia y cómo las mercancías regionales van a llegar al centro de Europa en muy poco tiempo.

El titular de Fomento e Infraestructuras recordó que la Región de Murcia forma parte del Corredor Mediterráneo desde 2013 y supone un nodo logístico único en España, con un enorme potencial que brinda la oportunidad de poder exportar alimentos frescos y todo tipo de bienes y mercancías, así como de generar más actividad económica y empleo.

Pancorbo aseveró que la Región de Murcia cuenta con una de las mayores flotas de camiones de España, especialmente la frigorífica, y es líder en innovación y tecnología, además de disponer de una importante concentración de actividad económica. En este sentido, resaltó su intermodalidad y la capacidad de interconectar rutas comerciales, así como la disponibilidad de gran cantidad de suelo logístico, parcelas urbanizadas de gran tamaño, infraestructuras competitivas y servicios eficientes para subir mercancías al tren.

El consejero, en representación del Gobierno regional, explicó a los asistentes al foro las características de la terminal intermodal, la conexión ferroviaria y el parking de camiones. En este sentido, explicó que con una superficie de 5,3 millones de metros cuadrados, permitirá la implantación de más de cien empresas del sector de la logística y el transporte, con capacidad para mover más de cinco millones de toneladas anuales.

Por último, Pancorbo expresó la inquietud que surge en la Región de Murcia en relación al traspaso de las competencias en materia ferroviaria al Gobierno de la Comunidad Autónoma de Cataluña, ya que, según dijo, podría suponer graves problemas para la exportación de las mercancías regionales en un futuro.

The Community gives new impetus to the Agri-Food and Transport City of the Region of Murcia by obtaining 4,957,691 euros from the European Union for the development of the secure truck parking area project called SAFE4TRUCK. The amount of this European co-financing of the 'Connect Europe' (CEF) mechanism represents 50 percent of the investment valued at 9.91 million euros (VAT not included).

   The Community gives new impetus to the Agri-Food and Transport City of the Region of Murcia by obtaining 4,957,691 euros from the European Union for the development of the secure truck parking area project called 'SAFE4TRUCK'.

   The acting Minister of Development and Infrastructure, JOSÉ RAMÓN DÍEZ DE REVENGA, explained that "this area, which aspires to be a benchmark for safe and secure parking in the Region of Murcia and in the southeast of Spain, responds to the growing interest of companies in the establishment of new parking areas that meet safety and security requirements".

   He has ensured that the area will have a positive impact in improving the working conditions of drivers. In addition, it will increase your safety during the trip and also create an attractive and suitable environment for drivers.

   "The Autonomous Community has also obtained 14 million euros for the development of the intermodal terminal and the railway connection of the Agri-Food and Transport City of the Region of Murcia", stressed Díez de Revenga, who pointed out that "the financial backing obtained to date shows that the entire Agri-Food and Transport City project is a priority both for the trans-European transport network and for the Region of Murcia, which will connect it with the Mediterranean Corridor".

The regional manager has highlighted that "this project will put the Region of Murcia at the forefront of national and international logistics and will entail an investment of 215 million euros of mixed capital", and recalled that it is included in the Social Pact of Infrastructures, as a strategic infrastructure to generate prosperity and growth in the Region.

   The Agri-Food and Transport City is projected as a platform specializing in the management of transport and storage of agricultural and food goods, mainly with refrigerated transport, which is destined to become the great logistics node of the Spanish Southeast.

  The current state of processing of the logistics area located in the municipality of Murcia, close to the district of Sangonera la Seca and the municipality of Alcantarilla, is very advanced, with the planning definitively approved, and the environmental impact overcome. In addition, the expropriations are in process and the urbanization project drawn up.

GOLD CERTIFICATE

   The Secure Truck Parking Area has been designed to be certified at EU Parking 'Gold' level, and will be a key part of the Agri-Food and Transport City by offering secure parking for sector workers and making the area more attractive to companies throughout the European Union.

   It will have 415 parking spaces for heavy goods transport vehicles and an area of ​​8.8 ha, and site zoning for general goods transport vehicles, refrigerated vehicles, flammable vehicles and non-flammable dangerous vehicles.

   The project, whose execution period will be 25 months, starting its construction at the end of 2023, aims to improve the parking capacity of goods in the southeast of Spain and address the growing challenges related to the safety and working conditions of the drivers.
